Yet there are legions of Fellowship zombies for whom the “the fellowship they crave” has been perversely converted into their own personal house of worship.</span><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: large;">AA's Big Book is not a Bible or Holy Scripture, yet how many would-be spiritually awake Big Book-Bots still get their guidance and direction on how to live out of it.<br /><br />AA's Big Book is a "How to" volume proffering the spiritual principles contained in that Fellowship's Twelve Step proposals, when done as prescribed, not tampered with, overstated nor diluted, do something very special. Unlike the typical mesmerising dogma and platitudes found in most churches, religions and pseudo spiritual movements, the ancient spiritual principles found in the Twelve Steps culminate in a psychic release from the mental stranglehold of all prejudices.<br /><br />A fresh consciousness is established; a condition placing the person who has spiritually awakened as the result, in contact with God, allowing an unmistakable awareness to distinguish right from wrong, true from false.</span>

It’s about a human being coming alongside another human being and giving them the courage to face the trauma and the abuse that has threatened to overwhelm them. In that setting, I don’t want some bespectacled expert who can quote chapter and verse. I want someone who at core is a thoroughly decent human being, who is willing to let me be the expert on me, who is willing to learn about me with me, and not assume that I am like every other dissociative disordered client he or she has ever previously known.</span>
