We suggest that you use a red fine point marker and a yellow highlighter.

First: Quickly scan through the Big Book from the title page through page 164, the end of A Vision For You. (Multilith Big Book page 76)

As you are scanning, underline the following words with red:

Recover
Recovered

Relieved
Removed

Restore
Restored

Sanity
Sanely

Solve
Solution

Also underline any variations on these words.

ie: Recovery

ie: Taken away

ie: Disappeared

As soon as you have underlined a word, highlight the full sentence that word is in, with yellow. Then use the tip of the yellow highlighter to underline a sentence or two before and/or after this main sentence. Doing this will help you to understand the main sentence and keep it in context.

Second: As soon as you have finished underlining, and highlighting, go back to the title page. Quickly read all the parts you have just highlighted. Then answer the following three questions:

A) What is the purpose of the Big Book?
B) What is the solution?
C) Why are you in this program? 

Then, to see if your answers match the Big Book's, read the first paragraph on page xiii. Then read page 25. Finally, read the bottom paragraph on page 84. (Multilith Big Book pages U, 11, 38)

We suggest that you then read, underline, and highlight appendix II "Spiritual Experience," on page 567, at the very end of the Big Book

Third: Quickly skim the Big Book from the title page through page 164 (Multilith page 76), to see the highlights you found in context. You should only spend two or three hours doing all of this. Then, as it says on page 95 in the third paragraph, you will need to decide for yourself if you want to go on. Will you follow what the Big Book on page 29 says are the founders' "clear-cut directions"?
