A relationship dependant is that in which a person is controlled or manipulated by another who is affected with a pathological condition (as an addiction to alcohol or heroin); broadly : dependence on the needs of or control by another.

The relationship dependent person may be addicted to another person. In this interpersonal dependency, the dependent has become so elaborately enmeshed in the other person that the sense of self - personal identity - is severely restricted, crowded out by that other person’s identity and problems.

a dependent is chronically not centered, in a way that you are not, and their 'center,' or 'where their focus is,' will often veer toward you in a way that you can discern; it often has a child-like quality to it-if it were an actual child, you would be OK with it.
